We want to see your work in print!

We are interested in reviewing your creative work with the possibility of featuring it in the next issue of Surfacing.

We will present profiles of those emerging on to the arts scene,
and those who have succeeded and can inspire us. If you have attended an interesting arts venue or function; write and tell us about it. Your article may be published.

Submissions to Surfacing are accepted on a continuous basis and will be considered for the issue preparing for publication at the time received.

Submission Requirements

General Requirements

• All submissions must be created by current residents of Durham Region.
• Submissions must be accompanied by a brief narrative biography, and general description of your work. Please also provide a brief insight into your methods and what inspires you to create.
• We require your name, mailing address, email address, title of work, medium and word count. Your website address is optional.
• Email your work to submissions@surfacingonline.com with an email subject line of "Submissions". If your work is chosen for publication we will contact you for further details.

Written Submissions

• 1,500 word limit for written story submissions.
• All submissions must be original and previously unpublished.

Art & Fine Craft Submissions

• Visual artists & craftspeople, please send low res digital photos
  of your work for consideration.
• Send max. 5 colour images at 72 ppi , 5"x7" max. size
• Artwork should be photographed against white or neutral background.
• Provide title, dimensions (inches), medium & year produced.
• All art submissions must be images of original work created by the submitting artist or craftsperson.
• If your work is chosen for publication we will contact you for a high resolution photo.

Ownership & Copyright Agreement

• Copyright and proof of ownership of work submitted is the responsibility of the creator.
• Surfacing Publications is not responsible for proving ownership or creative originality.

Useage Agreement

• By submitting your work to Surfacing Publications you agree that the work is your original creation and that written works have not been previously published.
• By submitting your work to Surfacing Publicationss you agree to have your written work and/or photographic images of your artwork appear in the publication free of charge. There is no contribution fee or payment.
• Surfacing Publications reserves the right to use published images in its advertising.
